Bass Stuff:

This is some of the gear I use. I’ve gone through many heads and cabinets, but I still use the stuff I bought back in the 80’s and 90’s.  My favorite head is this 1980’s Gallien Krueger 200RB. I also have a 400RB, but the 200RB sounds much better for some reason. It has tons of volume and doesn’t color my bass sound. It’s been a real workhorse over the years and has never broken down.

I use a combination of three different cabinets.  The first is a SWR Son of Bertha 1x15. It has a horn you can dial and it’s vented in the front. Second is a SWR Goliath Jr. III. This is an excellent 2x10 cabinet with a horn you can dial.  It stacks perfectly on the Son of Bertha,  The third cabinet is a Phil Jones Compact 4 4x5. This cabinet gives you a ton of punch and mids. They are all 8ohms and I mix and match them in different combinations depending on the gig I’m playing.

For signal processing, I use a Symmetric CL 150 Compressor. I bought this in the 80’s and it is still the best sounding compressor I’ve ever used. It just responds perfect for bass.
